Course
By using actual incident aircraft as training props and trained first responders as patients, we make training as realistic as possible. Instructors provide feedback to incident commanders, exterior and interior crews. Responding crews feel like their first aircraft incident response is not an unknown.
Not just for firefighters: we can also stage an accident scene for an airport emergency response exercise. Instruction is available for municipal staff and other first responders Responding to an actual crashed aircraft with live patients, instead of a table top exercise, engages staff and gives them the confidence to perform if they are present at an aircraft incident.
The Aircraft Awareness for Structural Firefighters program was developed to provide instruction to firefighters who may respond to an aircraft incident and are not Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting(ARFF) trained. The program delivers classroom instruction on airports, aircraft systems, fuel types, emergency equipment, and tactical considerations. Firefighters then put their classroom experience to work responding to several simulated aircraft incidents with one of our training props, which are actual aircraft.
Aviation incidents are low frequency, high risk events. The goal of the program is to remove the unknown elements of responding to a seldom seen event, help firefighters feel safe, and have the knowledge to operate on the scene of an aircraft incident with confidence.
